Asbury's Membership Class

Our goal at Asbury is to grow mature Christians, thus we offer what is called Starting Point. Starting Point classes are offered each quarter and they take a person from membership to maturity in his or her faith. Each class is held on a Sunday afternoon from 2-6pm. How Do I Become A Member of Asbury Church?

  • POINT 101: Point of Decision
    Deciding on Church Membership

Purpose of the class: To share what it means to be a Christian and a member of the church. ( Acts 2:42 )
"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teachings and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayer."

How Do I Grow In My Spiritual Walk?

  • POINT 201: Point of Discipleship
    Growing in Spiritual Maturity

Purpose of the class: To help the believer grow in his/her walk of faith by exploring the four healthy habits of growing Christians; daily time with God through study, prayer, tithing and fellowship. ( Colossians 4:12b )
"...that you may become mature Christians and may fulfill God's will for you."

How to start and maintain good habits

  • POINT 301: Port of Discovery
    Discovering My Ministry

Purpose of the class: To help Christians understand their SHAPE for service and thus find what God created them to do. This is accomplished by discovering our special gifts. ( Ephesians 4:11-12 )
"God has given pastors and teachers to prepare God's people for works of ministry, so the body of Christ may be built up."

  • POINT 401 : Point of Destiny
    Discovering My Life Mission

Purpose of the class: To help each person discover the joy of sharing Christ with others. The emphasis is on how to witness to family members, friends, co-workers, and others. ( Matthew 28:19-20 )
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

  • POINT 501 : Point of Direction
    Growing in Personal Holiness

Purpose of the class: To enable each class participant to claim the Spirit filled Life and what it means to live a life devoted to God. Are Christians to live differently than those who do not profess faith? God says we are. ( Hebrews 12:14 )

  • POINT 601 : Point of Leadership
    Active Disciple-Making

Purpose of the class: To develop leaders through the study of God's Word and the work of the Holy Spirit. This class will teach the laws of leadership enabling the participant to establish vision and set direction as a leaders. ( Matthew 28:19-20 )
