WECAN

12.3% of Sedgwick County has food insecurity.
One in five American households with children lives at risk of hunger.

WE CAN is a grass-roots effort to benefit the food ministries of United Methodist (UM) Open Door and Catholic Charities Emergency Services, based on this one very simple idea.  If every person gives a little bit every week, all year long, there would be no hunger problem.

At the present time, persons in need can visit the food pantries only once per month. If everyone, or every family, who goes to church would bring just one nonperishable item every week, there would be no food problem.

Asbury Church has created the “WE CAN” project as part of its Pay it Forward campaign and hopes to inspire other churches to join them. Asbury is establishing convenient neighborhood collection sites for food drop-off and encouraging a commitment from 2,000 Wichita metro-area households to keep the food pantries continuously full.

Collection Sites include:

Asbury Church Central Campus - 2801 West 15th Street
Asbury Church Linwood Campus - 1248 South Lulu

Other locations:

Johnson’s Garden Center - 2707 West 13th Street
Johnson’s Garden Center - 802 North Ridge Road
Johnson’s Garden Center - 6225 E. Shadybrook
Stoneware Studio - 8643 West Centra
Terry Johnson
- State Farm Insurance, 303 S. Hillside
